About Goldie
Goldie is a sweet, active Australian Cattle Dog/Red Heeler Mix who I have had the pleasure of fostering the past few days. He is ready for a longer term placement, or even better an adopter to stay out the shelter for good! Here is why you’ll love him:
House manners: Goldie is reliably potty trained and crate trained. He is content with in his crate 9+ hours as he snoozes the day away or plays with toys while we are at work. Typically he gets a quick potty break at the halfway point during a work lunch break, but I think he could make it the whole day if he needed to. Outside of his crate, Goldie is a Velcro pup and enjoys following us room to room. He will sit politely in the kitchen out of the way while I’m cooking and does not beg while we are eating (but he will keep an eye on us to make sure no scraps fall!)
Fetch Connoisseur: Goldie LOVES fetch and will bring it right back to you every time in hopes you will throw it again. He also loves tug and is very careful to not accidentally get your fingers while playing. When he wins the game, he nudges the rope toward your hand to get you play again.
Playful & Intelligent: In true cattle dog fashion, Goldie has energy to burn and thrives with toys, mental enrichment, long walks and zoomie time. He loves Kongs, nylabones, stuffie toys, and snuffle mats. He is good at entertaining himself with toys. Goldie also learns quickly and is treat motivated which makes him an excellent candidate for new tricks. His ideal home would include a secure fenced-in yard he can run around in and/or person who is very committed to providing energy outlets for him. Even without a yard, hikes, long walks, mental enrichment, sniff spots, private agility gyms (like Doozle’s Den) would work okay too.
Dog friendly: Goldie is dog friendly with proper, structured introductions. His play style includes pouncing, paws in the air, face and ear nibbles, wrestling, and chasing. He would do best with another dog who matches his playstyle and enjoys playtime. Goldie would also be content as the only pet in the home.
Affectionate and cuddly: Goldie loves snuggles. He will lean on your legs, come closer for pets, and crawl into your lap for more pets! He gives gentle kisses and loves soaking in the attention.
After spending months in the shelter, Goldie has finally had a chance to show who he really is out of the shelter—a sweetie pie! He deserves to never have to step foot in the shelter ever again. Adopt him today!
